Adorable graphics under-delivers with rough execution

TL;DR: Space Kitties has adorable graphics and a simple save-the-kitties concept, but it under-delivers with confusing controls, zero feedback, and almost no guidance. Cute idea, rough execution.

First Impressions & Playthrough

When you launch Space Kitties, you’re dropped straight into a single-screen game with no menus or tutorial. The visuals are immediately charming. Bright, cartoonish space kitties and aliens with a colorful, playful style that screams “AI-generated cute.”

Gameplay is dead simple: tap to save kitties, swipe up to destroy aliens. A counter in the middle climbs as you play (I assume toward 100), but nothing explains the goal, win condition, or what happens if it hits 100. In my playthrough it just reset to zero with no fanfare or “game over.” I never figured out if there was a true win state.

Review Notes

Monetization
Completely free with no ads or in-app purchases. Refreshing but the lack of polish makes it feel more like an unfinished prototype than a generous free game.

Gameplay
The core loop (save kitties, kill aliens) is extremely basic and gets repetitive fast. There’s no tutorial, no difficulty options, and no real progression. The counter is mysterious. It goes up but never clearly tells you what it means or what you’re working toward. I played for a while and still don’t know if I was “winning” or just delaying the inevitable reset.

Visuals
The kitties and aliens are genuinely cute, with vibrant colors and fun designs. However, the background feels mismatched with the UI elements, and everything has that slightly generic AI-art look. The tiny row of icons in the middle gets clipped on the 5th kitty/alien, which is sloppy.

Controls
This is the biggest letdown. Swiping left or right instantly exits the game (super easy to do by accident). There’s zero haptic or visual feedback when you tap or swipe, so it never feels satisfying. The controls are unresponsive and poorly explained. You have to guess or read the store description to know what to do, which isn't much.

Final Verdict

Space Kitties has a charming theme and zero monetization pressure, which is nice. Unfortunately, confusing controls, lack of feedback, no tutorial, and mysterious gameplay mechanics make it feel unfinished. It’s a quick free distraction at best, but it doesn’t deliver the fun, polished experience you want from a watch game.

If you’re looking for cute and simple, there are better options. Cute concept that needs a lot more work.
